Increase Student Funding

Since 2001, tuition fees at SFU have steadily climbed and have now doubled in less than ten years.  With twice the tuition fees to pay every year, many students struggle to afford their education.

At the same time, the University has had to slash scholarships, bursaries, tutorials, financial aid because of cutbacks to provincial funding to the university.

In its most recent budget 2010, the BC Provincial Government has declared that no new funding is available for SFU.  As a result, students can expect further cuts to the measures that were designed to increase financial accessibility to post-secondary education.

The Student Society has consistently spoken out against the cuts and these high fees.  If you'd like to get involved in our campaigns, contact the Advocacy Committee's chairperson, Kyle Acierno.

For 2009 and 2010, students sent e-cards to the Minister of Advanced Education demanding no more cuts to post-secondary education funding.
