Stonewall was a monumental moment in the fight for equity and justice for LGBTQ+ folks. As time has passed the events of that night have been skewed, whitewashed and made more palatable for our hetero/cisnormative, white masculine gaze.
The SFSS Out on Campus and Women’s centre are looking to put on a screening event – Major, documentary, and conversation that centers the voices of those that launched the Stonewall Riots – trans women of color. We are looking to highlight the true catalyst for Stonewall, police brutality. We want to create a dialogue via a panel of folks with similar lived realities to talk about the importance of reclaiming the true history of Stonewall.
Join us on June 28th from 4pm to 8pm at the MBC2292 room.
