Pursuit of SMAshing Stigma @ MBC 2290-2292

Mental Health, work-life balance and physical well-being are topics that are often overlooked and may not be something that everyone is comfortable talking about. WHAT: Pursuit of Happiness and the Student Marketing Association (SMA) have partnered up to bring you guys our upcoming event, “Pursuit of SMAshing Stigma” - an educational event where students can learn about mental health and how to seek help for oneself or those around them. We have Candice Coombes, a Clinical Counsellor from SFU Health and Counselling Services, who has agreed to speak at our event.

HC SFU presents Vancouver Women: Shattering the Glass Ceiling

SFU Dance Marathon

A dance marathon held on Burnaby campus to benefit BC Children's Hospital through the Miracle Network. Our goal is to engage students by raising awareness and donations for BC Children’s Hospital throughout the school year, and holding an annual event to celebrate everyone's fundraising efforts. SFU is the first Canadian university to participate in Dance Marathon, which has raised over $80 million for children’s hospitals at more than 250 schools since 1991.

She Has A Name Screening

On March 30th, we are hosting a screening of She Has A Name, a powerful dramatization of human trafficking incidents in Thailand made by a Canadian film studio. The screening will be held in the Diamond Family Auditorium at the SFU Burnaby campus, doors open at 5:30, with the Film beginning at 6:00PM. 21st Century Slavery: Documentary + TED Night

25toLife, a non-profit organization at SFU is holding a pub night event on November 23drd. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore the Arctic? Has the Arctic ever seemed remote or disconnected from you? Join SFU's Wildlife Conservation Club and Parks Canada on Friday, November 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in Maggie Benston Centre Room 2290 to experience a little of the Arctic for yourselves. Discover and discuss how we are all connected to the Arctic, some of the challenges it currently faces, and what we can do to help this incredible land.

CJSF 90.1 FM's 13th Annual FM Party

Come celebrate the 13th anniversary of CJSF 90.1 FM's presence on the FM airwaves (and its 50th year at SFU) at the Astoria Pub (769 E. Hastings) on November 19 from 8pm-2am. CJSF, SFU's campus-community radio station, is returning to the Astoria for its fourth straight year, with some of Vancouver's most exciting musicians. This year, Mourning Coup and Mu will be bringing their experimental pop soundscapes to the stage, while art rockers Other Jesus, Swim Team, and Non La provide the angular dissonance for the night.
