Queer/Trans People in Advertising

What are the trends of queer and trans folks in advertising? What kinds of representations do queer and trans folks get in advertising? How do marketers sell to queer and trans consumers? What kind of effects does this have on queer and trans people? The Trans and Gender Diversity Project Advisory Committee presents a lecture and dialogue on queer and trans representation in advertising that seeks to explore answers to these questions and more. This event is part of Out on Campus’s Queer Awareness Week programming.

Out on Campus is hosting an Intro Module workshop on March 27, 1:30-4:30PM. The workshop will have limited seating, and require RSVP ( ). It is open to staff, faculty, and students of SFU at no cost. Additional workshops can be provided for your group at a small cost. We can work with your group to make these workshops fit the needs of the group as best as possible. Join us for interviews with some OOCers from days past and possibly a couple who’ve been with us for a long time including days present. So far the SFU Queer History Project has focused on the preservation of documents, but this event shifts the focus to the preservation of spoken understandings not necessarily reflected in the documents that get left behind.
