4. SFU Public Square Queer Film Festival Event Volunteer Opportunity
My name is Averyl Bancroft and I am the event and volunteer coordinator with SFU’s Public Square down at the Harbour Centre. I am reaching out to you because we are putting on an event with the Queer Film Festival on August 18 from 12-130. I have a fairly substantial volunteer list, but when I have so much time, I thought it might be nice to offer up a volunteer opportunity to students who utilize Out on Campus! The event will include two very prominent directors who are showing their movies at this years Fest, and we will be celebrating women’s growing visibility in film and media. I am working with Shana who is the director of programming, and hoping that volunteers will receive some free tickets to a screening at the festival.

6. Fraser Health Authority LGBT*Q2S Competent Care Handbook
The Fraser Health Authority in BC is writing a handbook on providing LGBT*Q2S competent care and would love to have your feedback and input on developing it! Hi, my name is David, and I am a queer-identified Public Health practicum student developing this handbook this summer (June 16 – August 29).

It’s a huge undertaking and I could really use your help.  The handbook will have components like LGBT*Q2S 101s, recommendations for further work, acknowledgements of contributions, and resource lists.  I am currently opening up my writing process on Google Documents (link below) and would love to have folks comment and review with any feedback they might have.  I acknowledge that I will likely make mistakes in my journey of writing this handbook, but I am committed to making edits and changes so this handbook is as useful, non-oppressive, and inclusive as possible.

More details about the project, including my contact information, can be found in the link to the handbook below. Thank you!
