About the workshop, Right to Dance with ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company:
2 hour dance and movement workshop that aims to create an affirming space for LGBTTIQQ2S Black/Indigenous/mixed/people of color with varying body sizes and abilities to participate, with the belief that we all can dance and have the right to dance.

This workshop will be REBELlet and Contemporary Dance: Ballet and Contemporary without the hierarchy, idolized body types, and forced gender roles. Come enjoy the benefits of these dance techniques taught with philosophy that we have all the things that we need, all our bodies are amazing and have the knowledge and range to learn and enjoy dance. Feel your body, breath, the music, stretch, and move with us, as we go through a guided warm up, stretch and conditioning, and Dance. No experience necessary, wear whatever makes you feel good, as long as you can move in it. You may wanna bring: water, snacks, towel, yoga mats, blocks and additional clothes you may get sweaty!

ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company is a queer multiracial dance company that embraces difference as strength and are committed to changing the landscape of dance by performing our stories on stage as well as providing more accessible education and performance opportunities for LGBTTIQQ2S communities prioritizing people of colour, various body types, backgrounds, classes, and abilities. Gender Neutral & Wheelchair Accessible Washrooms
There is a washrooms in the vicinity that is both wheelchair accessible and gender neutral. I will ensure that gendered washrooms near the dance studio are gender neutral for the duration of the event.

ASL & FM Tuners
Do you need ASL? We are looking into booking ASL for this event, but we still need you to let us know if you can make it. Please register & let us know that you need ASL or an FM tuner! We need to know by Tues, June 28.

No Peanuts & Tree Nuts (including Coconuts)
This event is a peanut & tree nut free space. Please do not bring tree nuts (including coconut) and peanuts into the space in any way to ensure that the space remains as accessible as possible.

Foldable, armless, plastic chairs will be available for folks who want to sit. Please bring mats or blocks if you need them.

There is mixed lighting at the Roundhouse, including natural light in the dance studio. Let us know what type of lighting works best for you during the workshop.

Please turn off your phones before the workshop. The Roundhouse has its own wifi network. The instructors will be using an ipod connected to a sound system during the workshop.
