***Out On Campus work and events take place on territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, sel̓íl̓witulh, and Stó:lō nations.***
Hi all! Welcome back to a new semester and a new year! As we settle in to the newness of this time, we also settle into having a new temporary coordinator while some of our other wonderful staff are on leave.
My name is Brianna Price, and until recently, I was the Trans and Gender Diversity Project Worker at Out On Campus. Now, I’ve moved into the coordinator role, and I’m very excited and grateful to have the opportunity to work and play with you all!
We’ll be open this week from 10-5, today until Thursday, with hopefully minimal closures. Please drop in, we’d love to see you!
Starting next week, we’ll have consistent hours, a volunteer program getting going again, and (hopefully!) some collective meetings organized.
I’ll also be running the Facebook, Twitter, website and coordinator email for now! Our Positive Space Network Project Worker will still be running his project and email.
Watch for more emails and posts in the coming days. Not on one of the mailing lists but want to be? Let us know: https://goo.gl/forms/w6ARVN2sl4JWXqdB2
Feel free to send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know of any questions or concerns.
Accessibility Information for OOC Lounge
The Out on Campus lounge is wheelchair accessible. We have two doors leading into the space: the first door swings open towards the outside via sensor and the second should be open. Our external door is 36″ wide. Our internal door is 33″ wide.
Gender Neutral & Wheelchair Accessible Washrooms
There are washrooms in the vicinity that are both wheelchair accessible and gender neutral.
No Peanuts or Tree Nuts (including Coconuts)
The lounge is a peanut & tree nut (including coconut) free space. Please do not bring these items to the lounge to ensure that the space remains as accessible as possible.
Scent Free Space
The lounge is a scent free space. Please refrain from using scented products such as shampoo, laundry soap, dryer sheets, perfume, cologne, lotion, etc prior to coming to the lounge. Here are some good resources: Think Before You Stink & Fragrance Free Femme of Color Realness.
Our lounge offers a variety of seating: arm chairs, couches, wheeled office chairs with arms, and armless chairs.
We have overhead fluorescent lights installed in our space. We also have two non-fluorescent lamps that we can also turn on. Our lighting depends on the needs of folks using the space.
Our lounge has wifi, and we are within range of the SFU Wifi Networkers. Folks often bring their laptops into the space to work. There are also three desktop computers in our space that folks sometimes utilize as well. We also have a microwave and fridge in our lounge.
Our events, space, library and services are accessible for free.
Let us know if we can meet your access need better.
