The president's role is about leadership, and coordinating the other members of the Board to work together. The President is automatically a member of every committee of the SFSS. The President represents the members of the SFSS at a variety of public events (new student orientation or press conferences) and private meetings (with SFU administrators or government officials).
The President's job requires a broad understanding of how all the different parts of the society fit together, and the ability to take the lead on making up for anything lacking. The president sets the priorities for the Executive committee to deal with new situations as they arise.
Although not formally required to, the President is often the chairperson of Board and Executive committee meetings. |
