Here are a few words from our new team member:
Paola identifies as a Queer Latinx woman of colour. She holds a Bachelor degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the University of La Sabana in Colombia, and a Certificate in International Development from the University of British Columbia. For the past seven years, Paola has worked in the non-profit sector holding a range of positions with a focus on women, vulnerable populations, and internationally trained professionals. She loves Latin American music and is curious about the under representation of Latin American women in the independent music industry. Currently, she is a committee member of the Women’s Advisory Committee at the City of Vancouver, participating on the Awareness, Accessibility, Inclusivity, and Diversity sub-committee to increase the participation and representation of women of color at the Advisory Committee.
She enjoys writing, creating art, baking, and co-producing a podcast that presents music of independent and contemporary Latin American and Caribbean artivists who use music as a tool for social change. Paola is thrilled to meet collective members at the Women’s Centre, students, and volunteers to continue maintaining and creating relevant activities that center the voices of those who are seldom heard.
