Here’s what your SFSS Board of Directors has been up to during the month of January:

The SFSS Board of Directors has had a fulfilling January!

They hosted numerous events at the Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver campus to welcome the Spring semester! Free mini donuts, snacks, fruits, red bulls, and hot chocolate were provided to students during Clubs Days, Munchie Mondays, and Tasty Tuesdays. In addition, a pancake breakfast was given to students during the Sexual Assault Awareness Pancake Breakfast. Be sure to follow the SFSS and the Events Committee’s Instagram account (@sfss_events) to stay up to date!

Next, the Board participated in support and advocacy efforts for students by President Giovanni Hosang, Executive Director Sylvia Ceacero, VP University Shina Kaur as well as two of our Faculty Reps Osob Mohamed and Fiona Li attending as observers at the BCFS AGM and Conference on the various campaigns that we can run in collaboration with student societies across the province. Also, At-Large Rep Rayhaan Khan and Arts and Social Sciences Rep Jennifer Chou shared their personal experiences on how they raised their GPA on behalf of the Student Learning Commons workshop.

In addition, the VP University Relations Shina Kaur and the University and Academic Affairs committee hosted a Gondola Open House to have students see the expected route options for the Burnaby Mountain Gondola! The Build The SFU Gondola campaign, student advocacy group, also supported the Open House and we had over 700 students attend and provide feedback. An SFSS Gondola Open House report is coming soon!

We hope you enjoyed all these events, activities, and support in the advocacy efforts. Good luck to all in your studies for the upcoming midterms!
