Here’s what your SFSS Board of Directors has been up to during the month of October:

100%;

The SFSS Board of Directors has had a fulfilling October!

They hosted numerous festive events at both Burnaby and Surrey campuses with Thanksgiving with the SFSS, Spooky Pumpkin Painting, and a Halloween Photobooth. Free pizza, hot chocolate, treats, and a good time were provided! In addition, Mental Care Packages were given out to students during Dog Therapy to relieve some midterm stress. Be on the lookout for future events!

The Board also provided a SUB Sneak Peak of the 100,000 sq. foot building. Hundreds of students, graduates, and families toured the building and excitement is starting to begin! Also, The Federal Election Debate was a success with all candidates given an opportunity to make their case to over 300 attendees.

Next, Jasdeep Gill (VP External Relations) and Christina Loutsik (VP Student Services) developed a joint document with BCFS and UBC AMS while meeting with multiple MLAs in Victoria, BC. They presented multiple recommendations on how the provincial government can support students through progressive policies and budget changes. Also, Shina Kaur (VP University Relations) and Osob Mohamed (Health Sciences Rep.) attended the Open Education Conference in Phoenix, AZ where they collaborated and learned about open educational resources.

We hope you enjoyed all these events, activities, and support in the advocacy efforts. Good luck to all in the fall semester and we hope you enjoy your Remembrance Day long weekend!
