As wildfires across British Columbia continue to have a devastating impact on our communities, the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) joins forces with UNICEF SFU and SFU Red Cross Club to try and raise $5,000 to support those affected by the fires.

The province is in a state of emergency, with approximately 200 incidents of wildfires. SFSS clubs, UNICEF-SFU and SFU Red Cross Club, are helping the thousands of evacuees impacted by the damage by collecting funds through:

  • cash donations,
  • fundraisers, and
  • online donations

We encourage the SFU community – students, staff, administration and faculty – to help us achieve our goal and provide significant aid to those in dire need. You can find our tables at the Burnaby campus in the AQ during the next few weeks, where our clubs will be selling treats and accepting cash donations (100% of the proceeds will go directly to BC Wildfire Relief Program of the Canadian Red Cross). We are now collecting online donations to help families displaced by the fires. Click here to donate.  Please note: online donations will receive a tax receipt instantly.
