The Board of Directors of the Simon Fraser Student Society appoints Sylvia Ceacero (pronouns she, her, hers), Executive Director.

On March 11 2019, the Simon Fraser Student Board of Directors and staff welcomed Sylvia to her new role. Sylvia brings to the role extensive experience in strategic planning, national, provincial and municipal advocacy and stakeholder relations; strategic and business planning; financial and fiscal management; risk management and human resources and labour relations management.  

Sylvia holds an MBA from HEC Montreal – University of Montreal, an MA in Political Science from McGill University as well as a Master’s Certificate in Risk Management from Schulich School of Business – York University, executive certificates in Strategic Planning and Governance from Queen’s University as well as a Coaching certificate from the University of Toronto and a Leadership certificate from McGill University.

Sylvia’s experience in leading national, provincial and local non-profits as well as for-profit organizations expands well over two decades and as a change agent, she brings visionary leadership to organizations that wish to deliver exponential results to those they serve.

Sylvia also contributes to her community through volunteer activities. She is a member of the Regional Affairs Committee of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade and a member of the Smart Cities sub-Committee; a Board member with the Communities Arts Council of Vancouver; a Board member and member of the Fund development Committee with Vantage Point; President of her strata Council and has been asked to join the Board of the Laurier Institution.

In her free time, she coaches young talent who wish to progress in their leadership journey, participates in her community garden, travels extensively and reads voraciously.
