Government announces new policy to help former international students live in, work in and continue contributing to Canada
January 13, 2021
On January 8th, the Government of Canada has announced that former international students will have the opportunity to apply for an open work permit. This achievement is the result of a series of initiatives across the country where student societies, like our own, have been actively advocating to help foreign students affected by the pandemic.
“In the fall semester, we worked alongside the GSS, MLA Katrina Chen and MP Terry Beech to advocate for the extension of the PGWP. So this is great news for us, and shows that students have the power to make change,” stated SFSS VP External Relations Samad Raza.
