The SFSS Copy Centre will be closing as of March 18, 2019.
A review of department has determined that:
Over the past 10 years, the SFSS has subsidized the Copy Centre by an average of $46,677 each year.
Last Fall, each order (whether it was a small $5 print job or a large $600 banner order) was subsidized by about $12.50. That means that while our prices are competitive and sometimes less than prices from our competitors, the actual costs were much higher.
The Copy Centre is not heavily used anymore – an average of only 11.4 customers are served each day and not all are SFSS members.
Many alternate options now exist for students to obtain print services on campus, off campus, online, and at home. All of the products and services offered at the Copy Centre can be obtained elsewhere.
What about the staff who work in the Copy Centre?
We are very grateful to the staff who have been loyal SFSS employees for many years.
We have encouraged the coordinator to move into a position in the SFSS Student Centre where she would be able to continue serving students. There would be no loss of hours or decrease in pay for the coordinator.
