Are you interested in broader food security initiatives, the environment, or making a real impact in your community? Then Rise Up is the initiative for you! Strengthening Food Systems and Environmental Stewardship program, Rise Up enables you to have the chance to discover and grow your passion for food systems, the planet, and your community.

You don’t need to be an expert or have prior experience, just bring your curiosity and willingness to learn! Volunteer activities may include supporting community gardens or farms, food waste reduction initiatives, food access programs, environmental initiatives, and more. Participants also gain free access to online education, webinars, and in-person gatherings offered by Public Health Association of BC (PHABC). This includes a Provincial Retreat in Parksville, BC (all costs covered!), which will be an opportunity to engage in field-trips and workshops, and connect with youth from across the province.

The program aims to help participants deepen their connection to land, food and the community, and empower them to become changemakers.

Rise Up! is currently welcoming youth from all backgrounds to join the program. No experience is required. Youth are eligible if they are between 15 to 30 years of age at the time of applying, and either a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or have been granted refugee status in Canada.
