Volunteers

The Women’s Centre thrives thanks to our dedicated volunteers! All genders are welcome, and we have lots of ways to get involved. Check out our volunteer teams below, and don’t forget to sign up for our upcoming Volunteer Orientations! If you do not have time to volunteer and still you are passionate about an activity or an important issue, let us know! The Women’s Centre lounge and resource area can be made available to you for meeting space and discussion groups.

Make sure to complete our canvas module here before our volunteer orientation day.

Want to help the Women’s Centre connect with students on campus, and represent us at events like Orientation? Would you like to improve your presentation and facilitation skills? Would you like to share your skills and expertise? Would you like to lead a reading group, one of our crafternoons, film screenings or discussions? Want to share what the Women’s Centre does and feminist ideas with students on campus? Let us know and you can be a part of facilitating our classroom visits or our centre programming! This is the team for you!

We’re looking for keen feminists and allies who spend most of their time at our Surrey and Harbour Centre campuses. Because we don’t have dedicated Women’s Centre space in Surrey or downtown, we’ll need your help to hand out freebies, put up posters, host small events, and represent us at Clubs Days booths!

If you’re a bookworm, archivist, or just plain obsessed with radical histories and maintaining our incredible resource library, we want you! Our library & resource team is always looking for folks to care for our books, shelve new materials, and suggest resources.

We’re always looking for folks who love our lounge and would like to help keep it safe, clean, and cozy. If you would like to keep an eye on the space while you study or do a little extra tidying once or twice a week, let us know! Because the 24/7 lounge is a space for self-identified women (including trans and intersex women), this volunteer team is only open to self-identified women.

All year round we need a dedicated group of green thumbs to take care of our garden plots at the Burnaby campus and make sure fresh, local veggies are available to the folks who access our space. If you don’t have a backyard or a garden at home but want to get your hands in the dirt, this is the volunteer team for you!
