January 17, 2020

On Tuesday, January 28 CCEL is hosting an event on how art can be used for social change and to break down stereotypes.

Our guest speaker, Founder and Director of BlackArt Gastown, Nya Lewis, will share some promising practices on how to design art with a racial and cultural equity lens. She will also speak about her work to preserve the history of Black settlers and immigrants in Vancouver.

This event is part of a city-wide campaign on racial diversity and immigration led by the Burnaby Family Life. Attendees will have the opportunity to form teams to design a poster for the campaign, with a chance to win $500 and other goodies!

Participating in the designathon is not a requirement for attending. All are welcome.
